Alive to Drive: live demonstration of road traffic collision

Emergency services and their key partners are coming together for a live demonstration of how they work together to respond to a road traffic collision (RTC).

Located at Tower Festival Headland in Blackpool on 6th August 2023, the public will be able to watch police officers be first on the scene at a staged RTC. They will then be joined by partners from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and North West Ambulance Service as they narrate their roles and responsibilities in dealing with the collision.

Other partners involved in the event include Blood Bikes, South Lancashire Advanced Motorcyclists, National Highways and Institute of Advanced Motorists.

Paul Regan, Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant, said: “RTCs involve a lot of partnership working – a lot more than people may initially think.

“The Alive to Drive event allows people to get a rare insight into the level of detail and teamwork that goes on between emergency services at the scene of a collision.”

Clare Burscough, Road Safety Coordinator for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The Alive to Drive event is a great opportunity for the public to meet their local emergency services and learn about all aspects of road safety. We are delighted to have the support from so many partners for the event.”

Information about the event:

11:00am – event starts – the public are welcome to come and speak with officers and emergency services workers before the demonstration.

12:30pm – the live demonstration starts.

15:00 – event closes.
