Road gritting request - Overton

Thank you for your email dated 21 October 2024 requesting us to extend the gritting

routes out of Overton.

Middleton Road heading northwest out of Overton is the route taken by the number

five bus route, this is a primary gritting route. Lancaster Road heading northeast out

of Overton is a gritting route as well, however it is a secondary gritting route. As such,

this does not receive the same priority that other routes receive.

We will treat secondary gritting routes where practical to do so, but only in daylight

hours, during periods of continuous ice and snow, and after we have cleared the higher

priority roads. Our policy is to ensure we treat one route into a settlement as a primary

gritting route to ensure accessibility is maintained, while also allowing us to treat our

other gritting routes in a timely manner. As such, we currently have no plans to change

Lancaster Road to a primary gritting route.
